For years I am been listening to my mother singing this mellifluous prayer from Taittiriya Aranyaka
ॐ योऽपां पुष्पं वेद ।पुष्पवान् प्रजावान् पशुमान् भवति ।
चन्द्रमा वा अपां पुष्पम् । पुष्पवान् प्रजावान् पशुमान् भवति ।
य एवं वेद ॥योऽपामायतनं वेद । आयतनवान भवति ।
OM yo’paaM pushhpaM veda | pushhpavaan prajaavaan pashumaan bhavati |
candramaa vaa apaaM pushhpam | pushhpavaan prajaavaan pashumaan bhavati |
ya evaM veda || yo’paamaayatanaM veda | aayatanavaan bhavati |
One day I was travelling to Ketchum,Idaho and while reading the prayer book I came across the meaning of this prayer. I was shocked. Unlike other Hindu and Vedic prayers this is not at all conversation between almighty and seeker. This is pure collection of scientific facts that a seeker and ordinary human being should understand. In other words these are pure commandments.
Lets see what are those:
1. One who understand ecology of water becomes prosperous.
2. Moon is part of the ecology of water. One who understand source and support of the water become stable in the life.
2. Fire is the source of water. One who understands this becomes stable in the life.
3. Air is the support of water. One who understands this becomes stable in the life.
4. Sun is the source of water. One who understands this becomes stable in the life.
5. Moon is the source of water. One who understands this becomes stable in the life.
6. Constellation is the source of water. One who understands this becomes stable in the life.
7. Rain is the source of water. One who understands ecology of rain becomes stable in the life.
8. Seasons are the source One who understands this becomes stable in the life.
My translation of this prayer is not literary. Sanskrit scholars could criticize me but I want to present the science that this prayer is presenting to us. For ages people are singing this without knowing the meaning. At least not implementing it.
Each year people of Indian subcontinent keep waiting for the "mansson" . Sometimes its less sometimes its too much and almost never adequate. Each year by January people don't have sufficient water to drink. Farmers kill themselves for a debt accumulated by poor crop.
Thousands of year ago we were told to understand and act on something, it was included in daily rituals so that we will remember it still no result. We are still suffering.
So... I have decided to act on it. With your help, people, I want to finds ways to conserve, harvest water so that.
1. People in India could get clean drinking water throughout the year
2. People in India could get sufficient water for agriculture and animals
